Stock Market Today | April 6, 2021

Here’s what happened in the markets today, Tuesday, April 6th — in 5 minutes or less.

The Dow finished 0.3% lower, the S&P 500 lost 0.1% and NASDAQ was 0.14% lower today.

So what happened?

Not much. After a huge move yesterday, stocks just took a breather today.

Vaccinations are rolling out at new records, and we have seen historic stimulus efforts from Congress – so the markets have all reasons to be happy. Today, they just thought “Let’s take a quick break.”

Investors are also still trying to figure out what to think about President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan, especially since it’s funded through corporate tax hikes: The idea is to raise corporate taxes from 21% to 28%, but right now it’s still uncertain if this is really happening.

So as you can see on the finviz map, it was really quiet: https://finviz.com/map.ashx

Shares of airlines and cruise lines continued their recent gains. Delta Air Lines (DAL) rose 2.8%, while Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) gained more than 1%. Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) jumped 4.6%.

So what can we expect for the remainder of the week?

Well, it will be the “flavor of the day”:
Yesterday, traders were happy about good economic reports.
Today, traders woke up and thought “What could we focus on?” – and came up with NOTHING.

Tomorrow, traders might worry about the yield – or something else.

Or maybe the Fed Meeting minutes – we’ll see.

This wraps up today’s stock market news in 5 min or less.

I think people are just going with the flow of the market… and many may be thinking that Biden will never get the taxes he is asking for but I think they are 100% wrong. When the Taxes become closer to being a reality then you will see the market panic and sell off.
